Physical characteristics
The map directly below shows the various National Parks and walking trails located on the islands of New Zealand. As you can see from the map, New Zealand is one country made up of two islands that are close together. There is almost an equal number of National Parks on each of the individual islands. There are also numerous walking trails that are located on each of the islands. The map details which National Park these walking trails belong to.

This particular map shows the different mountains, lakes, and rivers that inhabit New Zealand. As the map depicts, there is a large mountain range on the South Island called the Southern Alps. This particular mountain range spreads across more than three-fourths of the South Island.

Human Characteristics
The map below shows the percentage of Maori people that reside in different regions of New Zealand. The Maori people were the first inhabitants of New Zealand, and a large portion of New Zealand's population today is made up of people with the Maori culture. As the map clearly shows, there is a larger population of Maori ethnicity on the North Island than there is on the South Island.
